This Light Beyond

There is a light beyond this light,

a radiance you never see

that presses in, that holds in place,

that stops the shatter of every

bulb in every Milky Way ...

April 8 - June 3

The Floyd Center for the Arts

I am so pleased to announce my first solo exhibition, This Light Beyond, at The Floyd Center for the Arts beginning Saturday, April 8th and running until Saturday, June 3rd. This show features a collection of my works from the last few years, including some new landscapes, a handful of surreal works, and a few older pieces. The title of the show is borrowed from the beautiful poem of the same name by writer, poet, and all around wonderful human being, Jim Minick. Give his work a read and come see me at the opening reception on Saturday April 8th from 5-7pm.

About the Artist

Chris Bradbury is an artist from Virginia’s New River Valley, where he is endlessly inspired by Appalachia and the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains. Chris uses watercolor, gouache, ink, pastel, and oil to paint illustrations, portraits, and landscapes in bold, almost primary colors with expressive brushwork to create realism through fantasy. But it is with his landscapes that Chris explores themes like the relationships between the natural and the unnatural world, the real and the unreal, and the pliability of the familiar. Chris lives in Radford, Virginia with his wife and children.
